12:22 AM: Spent a few hours repairing the T-45's right leg from the damage in battle and breaking down extra weapons I had. Gonna sleep till dawn and head back to Sanctuary.
7:37 AM: Feeling rested, still can't shake the sluggishness though. Hooked up a bag of radaway to my arm...I know I'm taking a chance by opening myself up to illness, but the Rocket and Sanctuary are the closest things to sanitary living conditions I have so I figure I might as well take the chance in the best situation possible. Tried eating some of that brain fungus. Honestly it's like raw cauliflower, and didn't do anything for my hunger.
Going to gather up dogmeat and had to Sanctuary.
9:30 AM: They made it safe, Preston was glad to see me. Honestly, it was nice seeing him too. He was excited about the prospects of Sanctuary, and I mentioned I used to like living there...before the War. When he asked what I meant I laid it all out: the 200 years of being frozen, Shawn...Nora. He said had not seen any babies, kidnaped or otherwise, but said he would keep an eye out. I thanked him.
As I turned to head back to my house he asked if I could help out another settlement that was hoping for Minuteman support. When I asked what kind of help Preston explained they were having raider issues...I couldn't say no. Tenpines Bluff is the name of the place, a healthy walk due east. It will be a while before I can even think about going there so I hope their situation is not as dire as it was in Concord.
11:00 AM: Had all the materials needed to make a water pump, set it up in my front yard near the cooking station and it worked! Unlimited fresh water. Filled up a bottle I had on me and drank my fill from the tap. This could change everything for all of us. Going to grab a quick nap, maybe go talk to Sturgis after lunch.
12:00 PM: Fixed a quick lunch from that mellon I stored in my room a few days back then headed out.
Odd, there was an eyebot floating around Sanctuary now. Not sure if the loop it's broadcasting is for a pre-war or current facility, some Cambridge Polymer Labs. Seems harmless enough and transmitted the location to my Pip-Biy. Speaking of robots where has Codsworth gone to?
Sturgis was just across the road at the Rosa's patching up the walls. I greeted him and he asked if I could help the group by making beds. They had been sleeping on the ground and I know how much fun that is. Said I'd be glad to help and he asked if I could build some in the abandoned houses, which I agreed to do. Well, I better get to it!
Ran in to Marcy out back behind the Rosa's. Ever the ray of sunshine...she seems to think staying here is a death trap and that she's witty calling Sanctuary, Cemetery. Ha ha. Jeez...I wonder if she was just born this way?
As I went about straightening up the Rosa's alongside Sturgis and Mama Murphy I found Jun in the bedroom. He seems worlds better...coherent and even asked to speak to me. He thanked me for my help and only wished I had gotten there sooner. When I asked what happened he said they had been on the move since an attack on Quincy, and he...he lost his son. I asked him what his son's name was, he told me it was Kyle. I expressed how awful it was and he shared that he felt he could have done more as he just stared right through me. I few silent minutes later he thanked me hurriedly before leaving the room. After a few moments to compose myself I got back to work.
3:10 PM: While rooting through the Sutherland's house again, for cloth to make bedding, their decorations reminded me that tomorrow is Halloween. I used to love that holiday...now I'm living in a world where people look like the celebrate it daily. I doubt anyone remembers the day now anyhow...
Found a dog bowl as I was leaving the Southerland’s. Only cloth I could find was a little rug in one of the bedrooms...not quiet enough to finish the bed I was currently working on. Put the dog bowl on my porch for Dogmeat, near my cooking station.
The Russle's place faired a lot better in the flooring department. Three rugs scrapped and I now have enough for two sleeping bags. They'll have to do. They also had a doghouse in their backyard...so I drug it over to my home for Dogmeat.
5:12 PM: Five beds total including my own. That should raise spirits a bit! With that out of the way I need something to eat.
As I was leaving Mamma Murphy caught me, expressing how she knew I'd come from here and that my energy was tied to this place. I told her I used to live here a long, long time ago. She floored me with her account of “seeing" me come out of the "ice box" and accurately describe how my life has become a bad dream I can't wake from. This woman...I don't know how but she knows things. Says she needs Jet to get her visions. I was not sure what that was though obviously it was a chem. When I asked she said it's a little inhaler that makes most people move fast but just gives her a rush. She also mentioned the vision does not always need the same drug. I told her I would find some, despite knowing Preston would disagree. I'm thinking I might have some back at the Rocket and she told me that you could make it yourself with the proper tools and some fertilizer and plastic. I'd rather not kill her with a botched attempt at making it, but I'll keep that in mind...
As I left I stopped and told Sturgis about the beds. He was pleased and then set about having me find a source of clean water. I know exactly how vital it is and informed him I already ran one well. He said one more should do the trick so now I'm out front looking for a good patch of earth to use...
7:00 PM: There, all set! Decided to run the second one right across the street from the first one at my place. Worked like a charm! The water is refreshing and gives me hope. Immediately reported back to Sturgis, up patching the roof, who was pleased with how quickly I had helped the community so far. He asked if I could give Marcy a hand with crops and recommended potatoes, mutefruit, corn...whatever we could get to grow. Told him I would get right on it in the morning, especially since his talk of food was getting my stomach grumbling. Heading back to the Rocket now...can't remember if I have any more food stashed there but I'm hoping I have Mama Murphy's Jet.
9:50 PM: Well I was wrong about the Jet, have not come across any in my travels. Buffout, Med-X, Mentats, Phycho, no Jet. I'll have to keep an eye out for it. At least I was right that I had stashed some food here!
Dinner consisted of: stale Fancy Lad Snack Cakes, passable Pork N' Beans, and and some Yum Yum Deviled Eggs which were scarily better then I was anticipating. "Preserved for you and the future!" I guess it was not just some bullshit tag line. I must be getting acclimated to the new diet since what were frequent and violent trips out back to relieve myself are starting to settle back down into what I recall as normal bathroom habits. (Lvl. 5: Lead Belly Perk - Take less rads when eating or drinking)
Well, it's late and though I feel odd thinking that I had a "good day", you know what? I think I did.
Actually...it's been the best day I've had in over 200 years...lets see what tomorrow holds.
